PESQA: where to fish, when to go and who to go with

PESQA (pesqa.ar) is an Argentine sport fishing platform: it tells anglers where to fish, when to go and who to go with. Guides and lodges get a listing, a dashboard and the option to take deposits through Mercado Pago. CENTAURI built it for a client, from first prototype to launch in 10 weeks.

The problem

Planning a fishing trip in Argentina still means digging through WhatsApp groups, relying on a “friend of a friend” and sending a deposit blind. Open and closed seasons, permits, access and river conditions are rarely in one place. On the other side, guides and lodges handle everything over WhatsApp and struggle to get paid in advance.

A brand that knows its craft, with a magnifying glass in the Q.

We created the whole brand: the strategy, the tone and voice, the typography, the colors, the logo and its system. The Q shows up in the map pin, the photo watermark and the icon.

  • PESQA’s Q on its own: an orange ring with a handle, like a magnifying glass. The Q is a magnifying glass
  • The PESQA icon: the orange Q on a deep green square. The icon

The colors

  • Deep#0E2A2BThe green of deep water: backgrounds, panels and strong text.
  • River#006965Links, info icons and focus states.
  • Ember#E8743DThe orange from the logo: a brand accent, never a background behind text.
  • Ember CTA#B64A00The background of action buttons.
  • Mist#F4F1EAPage backgrounds, and text on dark surfaces.

The typography

  • Headlines and logo: Fraunces
  • Interface and text: Satoshi
  • Real data: dates, times and sources: Spline Sans Mono
The golden dorado page on pesqa.ar: “El tigre del río” (The river tiger) and “Dorado” set in Fraunces, and the fish description in Satoshi.

The voice

Warm, plainspoken Rioplatense Spanish, like someone who knows the water. Three of its lines, in English: “Plan your fishing trip”, “Argentina, surveyed by hand” and “None can be bought. Every one is caught.”

  • “Armá tu salida de pesca.”
  • “Argentina, relevada a mano.”
  • “Ninguna se compra. Todas se pescan.”

How we build a brand

The platform and the social media

We designed and built the site, each business’s dashboard, the back office and deposit payments through Mercado Pago, all of it mobile-first. On social media, we handle the strategy and the design of every post.

How we run social media

If your business needs a platform like this, the first step is a 20‑minute conversation.

What we decided and why.

The deposit goes straight to the business.

Guides and lodges handle everything over WhatsApp, and collecting payment up front is hard for them. We built split payments. When an angler pays the deposit, Mercado Pago splits it on the spot: the business receives it directly in its account. PESQA keeps only its commission.

Every payment is checked on the server before it’s recorded. The notice must come from Mercado Pago, and the charge must be in pesos and for the exact amount. No payment is recorded twice.

Live on pesqa.ar; each business turns it on by connecting its Mercado Pago account.

See the cancellation policies on pesqa.ar

For your projectIf your platform has to split payments between several businesses, this is the hard part. We’ve already solved it for PESQA.

How the deposit is split
  1. The angler pays the deposit
  2. Mercado Pago splits it on the spot
    • The deposit, to the business’s account
    • The commission, to PESQA

Wrong river data is worse than none.

PESQA shows river levels from Argentina’s National Water Institute, with one strict rule: a reading from that same river, never the nearest gauge on another one. If the data doesn’t arrive, the section stays hidden.

See the river level on pesqa.ar

For your projectA digital product is also judged by what it chooses not to show.

Sign-up comes last.

To join, a business chooses its trade, then adds its details, the species it targets and its trips: 4 steps on a phone. It creates the account only at the listing preview, so it can add everything in one go without stalling at a sign-up form.

See how a guide signs up on pesqa.ar

For your projectIn a sign-up flow, every extra screen is a reason to leave.

Sign-up in 4 steps
  1. Business details
  2. What they fish
  3. Their trips
  4. The preview
  5. Only then, the account

And under the hood

One database for every business
One database that keeps each business’s data apart, row by row.
Layered security
Access rules on every table, an isolated back office with two-factor authentication and automated scanners on every change.
Built for Google and AI search
Structured data and FAQs written for search engines to cite.

Built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Supabase, Vercel and Mercado Pago.

If your project has a hard part like these, we start with a call. It takes 20 minutes and is free of charge.

The 10 weeks, date by date

The dates come from the project log.

  1. Kickoff: about 45 prototyped screens and the first code, on the same day.

  2. The foundations: a database that keeps each business’s data apart row by row, the site, the accounts and the dashboards.

  3. The pesqa.ar domain is confirmed.

  4. The pre-launch page goes live, with a waitlist.

  5. Split payments with Mercado Pago, built and verified end to end in the test environment.

  6. 3D medals with augmented reality, no app to install.

  7. PESQA opens to the public at 11 a.m., Buenos Aires time.

After launch, the work continued.

  1. Business sign-up in 4 steps, with the account at the end.

  2. River levels go from 9 to 66 towns, with every gauge checked one by one.

  3. The magazine is rebuilt for search engines and AI: 17 articles.

  4. A design sweep goes live: 83 changes in 9 rounds, approved with screenshots before release.

Questions about the PESQA case study

Who built PESQA, and for whom?

CENTAURI, a marketing and software agency based in Pilar, Buenos Aires. PESQA is a client project: we built the brand, the platform and its social media.

How long did the platform take?

10 weeks from first prototype to launch: June 12, 2026 to August 17, 2026.

What is it built with?

It’s built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Supabase, Vercel and Mercado Pago.

How much does a platform like this cost?

Custom platform or app: a first version ready to use, in 6 to 9 weeks. Reference price: from US$12,000; the final price is set in writing in your proposal.

Do the code and the accounts stay in my name?

Yes. Your domain, ad account and admin access are in your name from day one. The code and designs are yours once the project is finished and paid.

How do PESQA’s split payments work?

When an angler pays the deposit, Mercado Pago splits it on the spot: it goes straight to the business’s account and PESQA keeps its commission and nothing else. It’s live in production, and each business activates it by connecting its Mercado Pago account.

Do you run it all on WhatsApp?

The first call takes 20 minutes and is free of charge.

On WhatsApp, we reply within 2 hours on Argentine business days, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Buenos Aires time (GMT-3).
